Doris Schaufler, age 90, of rural Buffalo Lake died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Hutchinson Health Hospital in Hutchinson, MN. There will be a visitation Wednesday, December 27th from 4-6 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia. There will be a private prayer service at 6:00 p.m. by Rev. Jerry Meidl. Private family burial is in Preston Lake Cemetery near Doris’ home at rural Buffalo Lake.
Doris Ann Schaufler was born September 11, 1927 in Litchfield, MN, to Amos and Clara (Pessek) Welch. She was baptized as an infant at St. Columbian Catholic Church in Greenleaf Township, Meeker County, MN. Doris married Edward Schaufler on October 4, 1952 at St. Columbian Catholic Church and they were blessed with one son, Randy. Doris and Ed resided on a farm in Preston Township, rural Buffalo Lake and shared 60 years of marriage before his passing. Doris loved to bake and cook for her family, crochet, and had a large garden from which she did lots of canning. She also loved watching all the geese and ducks on the lake right by her home. Doris was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart and St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Brenda Schaufler of rural Buffalo Lake; her two grandsons: Ryan Schaufler and his wife Nikki and Rodney Schauffler and his girlfriend Shantay; her sisters-in-law Sharon Welch and Flora Schaufler; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Amos and Clara; her husband Edward; her brothers: Wayne Welch and his wife Alice and Earl “Bud” Welch; her sister Harriet Welch; her brothers in law: Alfred Schaufler and Joseph Schaufler; her sisters-in-law: Helen Tanata and her husband John, Louise Smith and her husband Roland, Agnes Williams and her husband Wesley, and Eleanor and Maria Schaufler in infancy.
