Lois Joan Aalderks, age 82, of Renville, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at her home in Clara City. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday June 26, 2017, at Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville. The Rev. David Zigterman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service all at the church in Renville. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Crossroads Prison Ministries. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.
Lois Joan Aalderks was born on March 4, 1935, in Crooks Township, Renville County to Lambert and Ella (Ahrenholz) Vanden Einde. As a small child she and her family moved to a farm in Ericson Township. She attended country school and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1953. Lois was united in marriage to Jimmie Knapper on September 23, 1953, at Emden Christian Reformed Church north of Renville. She took great pride in raising her children and watching them grow into adults. She also worked various jobs over the years including doing child care, cleaning, working at K-M Manufacturing, selling Watkins products, and serving as an activities aid at the RenVilla Nursing Home. Her husband Jimmie passed away in November of 1979, and Lois later married Pappe Aalderks on April 6, 1991, at Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville. Lois was an active member of Emden Christian Reformed Church, where she played piano and organ, served in the Mission Society and Ladies Aide, and was involved in the Shepherding Elder Program. Her passion was working with the Crossroads Prison Ministry and was a mentor to many.
Survivors include her children: Mike (and Angela) Knapper of Glencoe, Paul (and Wanda) Knapper of Renville, Pam Knapper of Clara City, Thomas (and Rachelle) Knapper of Highland, IN, and Steven (and Joanne) Knapper of Zimmerman; 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brothers: Gladys Overholt of Grand Haven, MI, Robert (and Judy) Vanden Einde of Willmar, and Harlan (and Sandy) Vanden Einde of Zeeland, MI; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmie Knapper and Pappe Aalderks.
