Viola Revier

Viola Revier, age 102, of Olivia, MN, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Olivia Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, January 7th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation for Viola is Monday at the church from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

Viola Marie Revier was born October 15, 1916, in Danube, MN, to Henry T. and Anna (Strey) Seehusen. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school in rural Danube. After this she assisted with the farm work and was also a nanny for community members. Viola attended beauty school in Minneapolis and then owned and operated a beauty shop in Renville for a few years. Viola married Jerome M. Revier on April 13, 1940. They made their home on their farm south of Olivia and were blessed with five children. In 1971 they moved into town and Jerome preceded her in death in 1977. Besides being a homemaker she had also worked at the canning factory and Trojan Seed. Viola was a Girl Scout leader for many years, volunteered at the local hospital and nursing home, and was a founding member and president of the Olivia Senior Citizens Center. Viola was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she was active in the CCW, taught religious education, did quilting, and sang in the choir.  She had enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Big Kandi Lake, playing cards, sewing, and having coffee with her Happy Hour Club. Viola has resided at the Olivia Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center these past seven years.

Viola is survived by her children: ViAnn (and Ullrich) Hermann of Corpus Christi, TX, Jerome (and Colleen) Revier of Olivia, and John (and Linda) Revier of Chanhassen; her son-in-law Craig Stokely of Wayne, IL; her seven grandchildren: Jerome ā€œJā€ (and Lisa) Revier, Joan Seedorf, Jeff (and Anessa) Revier, Jack Revier, Mark Revier, Katherine (and Jacob) Turner, and Natasha (and Mark) Baca; and her eleven great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Jerome M. Revier; her two daughters: Carole Stokely and Donna Revier; and her siblings: Gerhard Seehusen, Lydia Jacobs, Adeline Hoffman, and Alice Lankenau.
