Julius "Bud" Bomstad, age 89, of Lake Lillian, died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian with Pastor Howard Anderson officiating. Visitation is Monday 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and continues there Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. There will be a private family burial.
Julius Ralph Bomstad was born March 25, 1928 on the family farm in Lake Lillian, MN, to Ralph and Erna (Gusey) Bomstad. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Bud married Lohva Wendberg in 1949 and they had six children. He did trucking, was a foreman for Fairway Construction for many years and was a lifelong farmer. Bud loved being outdoors and was an avid sportsman having enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching the birds, and time spent cutting hay. He also enjoyed playing cards, bowling and playing pool in earlier years. Bud had been a member of the Lake Lillian Methodist Church and was a now a member of Hunters Ridge Community Church in Hutchinson. Bud loved God, his family, and being on the farm and was blessed to pass away there Thursday morning, July 13, 2017.
Bud is survived by his children: Mike (and Deb) Bomstad of Pickens, SC, Kathie Berg of Bemidji, Chriss Wohlleber (and Davie) of St. Cloud, Pam Bomstad of Redwood Falls, and Tim (and Ellen) Bomstad of Inver Grove Heights; special friends: Nancy, Cheri, and Codi; his 13 grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Verle (and Earl) Brede and Patricia Rose; his brothers: Wayne (and Jill) Bomstad and Gary (and Wendy) Bomstad; and many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his son Kirby Bomstad; his brother Ivar "Sonny" Bomstad; and his sister Valora Lundberg.
