Ronald Clement Peterson, age 69, of Sacred Heart, died Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, MN. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. The Rev. Dale Svendsen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service all at the church in Sacred Heart. Ronald Clement Peterson was born on September 4, 1948, in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Clement Orlando and Pearl Marie (Nordstrom) Peterson. He grew up on the family farm and attended Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1966. He continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech graduating in 1968. Ron was united in marriage to Carol Blagsvedt on October 11, 1969, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Following their marriage, they lived in Sacred Heart until 1976, when they moved to their home in Wang Township. Ron farmed in partnership with his brothers for many years, retiring due to health reasons. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, was president of the Bird Island-Hawk Creek Mutual Insurance Company and also served as a board member for 25 years and a past member of the Sacred Heart Jaycees, the Sacred Heart Lions Club, and Co-op Products Association Board of Directors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, reading agricultural articles, and participating in endless activities with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed having his favorite drink while reminiscing with friends and family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years Carol, his two sons: Brian (and Stephanie) of Sacred Heart, and Mitchell (and Kelsey) of Cologne; his grandchildren: Trevor, Connor, and Lainey; his five brothers: Gerald (and Marlys) Peterson, Myron (and Janice) Peterson, Gary (and Kris) Peterson, Rodney (and Ruth) Peterson all of Sacred Heart, and Robert Peterson of Renville; his father–in–law Sidney Blagsvedt and his sisters-in-law Kay (and Joe) Thompson and Pamela Nelson; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Dorothy Blagsvedt.
