Jean Kolbe, age 100, of Olivia, MN died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville, MN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with Rev. Yong Ok Son officiating. Burial will be next to her parents in the Bird Island City Cemetery. Visitation is December 5th at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Olivia.
Jean Elinor Kolbe was born May 5, 1917 at Bird Island, MN, to Paul and Freeda (Hermansfeld) Kolbe. She graduated from Bird Island High School and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing where she majored in Public Health Nursing. Jean was employed as a school nurse at Redwood Falls Schools and then was the Director of Renville County Public Health Nursing for many years. She enjoyed playing piano as well as traveling and was fortunate to enjoy several extended tours. Jean was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Worthy Matron. Jean was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia.
Jean is survived by her four nephews: James McLean, Michael McLean, Patrick McLean, and Kenneth McLean. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Wesley; and her sisters: Helen McLean and Iona Tebelius.
