Allen Henry Maurice, age 68, of Renville, died on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Private Burial with military honors will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Allen Henry Maurice was born on March 16, 1949, in Willmar, Minnesota to Henry and Irene (Woltjer) Maurice. He and his family lived north of Danube until Al was in the first grade. They then moved to a farm south of Olivia, he continued his education at Olivia High School and graduated in 1968. He served his country in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked at the Renville Co-op Creamery for a few years. He was united in marriage to Sharon Brettin on April 25, 1970, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville. Al worked for Elk River Concrete in Olivia for 31 years. After the concrete plant closed Al worked at H & L Motors in Renville full time then part time, fully retiring in 2015. He was a member of the Olivia American Legion and V.F.W. He loved hunting, tinkering in his garage, was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughters and son: Stephanie (and Nate) Schueller of Willmar, Sandi (and Tim) Bickford of New London, and Steve (and Sarah) Maurice of Marshall; nine grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; his two brothers: Gerald of Baker, Montana, and Bob (and Karla) of Atwater; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lee, his sister Geraldine, and his niece Shelly.
