Frances died at the Olivia Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Memory Care Unit on Sunday, January 28, 2018. She was 99 years old and suffered from Alzheimer’s.
Frances was born in Millheim, Pennsylvania to Oliver Bruce Shawver and Elsie N. (Pressler) Shawver on November 18, 1918. She graduated from East Penn’s Valley High School in Millheim, Pennsylvania. She married Marlin Frederick Herman on June 27, 1940. They celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary before her husband died in January, 2014.
During World War II she worked at a hosiery mill in Pennsylvania filling in for men serving their country. She was an excellent seamstress making clothes for familymembers. She spent years in the altar guild at Trinity Lutheran Church in AlbertLea, and loved to golf playing her last round when she was ninety. She lived with her husband at Fairview Place in Olivia before spending her final years in the memory care unit.
Frances is preceded in death by three brothers and her parents. She is survived by: her only son Gary; her daughter-in-law Sharon; four grandchildren, Rick Herman (Nancy), Terri Muench (Bob), Randy Herman and Melissa Haces (Carl); nine great-grandchildren, Jennifer Benz (Eric), Ben Herman (Meghan), Joseph Kremer-Herman, Katrina Johnson (Zack), Taylor Herman (Mallory), Nathaniel Kremer-Herman, Alyssa Hughes (John), Alexandria Haces and Rebekah Muench; and three great-great granddaughters, Ellie Herman, Madelyn Herman and Adilynn Herman.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
