Jeanette Christina (Bakker) Bruns was born June 4, 1921, on a farm in Kandiyohi County, near Renville, MN, to parents John W. and Swannette (Middents) Bakker. Her education was at a country school (District 85), and she graduated from Renville High School on May 29, 1939. On January 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to Henry Bruns, and they lived in Renville until 1947. At that time they moved to a farm in Ericson Township where they lived and worked together for 47 years. During these years she was active with her daughters in church, school, and 4-H activities. She was a life-long member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was a member of the Women’s Organization. She loved music and playing the piano, a talent she shared until her death. In October 1993 they purchased a home in Renville, and continued enjoying retirement years by visiting family, traveling and volunteering to help in the church and community. In February 2011 they moved into an apartment at Meadows on Main, where she was still residing. Her peaceful passing occurred at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia on May 31, 2018.
