Marcella Harriet Standfuss, age 89, of Renville, formerly of Danube, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Danube. The Rev. Michael Kuschel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery south of Danube. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church in Danube. Marcella Harriet Standfuss was born on March 14, 1929, on the family farm in South Sacred Heart Township in Renville County to Christ and Celia (Engebretson) Refsland. She was baptized on April 21, 1929 and later confirmed on May 30, 1943, both at Opdal Lutheran Church south of Sacred Heart. She graduated from Renville High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Duane Standfuss on June 15, 1952, at Opdal Lutheran Church south of Sacred Heart. Following their marriage, they lived north of Danube for a short time. They then moved to a farm south of Renville and lived there prior to moving to their farm south of Danube. Marcella and Duane lived on the farm south of Danube for 43 years, moving to town after their retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Troy Township Ladies Group, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters: Donna (and Leslie) Kruse of Kensington, MN; and Mavis (and Tim) Dolezal of Athens, GA; her grandchildren: Angela (and Chris) Getz of Pelican Rapids, Sarah Potter of Renville, Scott (and Alicia) Potter of Belle Plaine, Dr. Sam (and Shannon) Dolezal of Minneapolis, Jason Dolezal of Hua Hin, Thailand, and Ben Dolezal of Atlanta, GA; her great grandchildren: Madison Grace and Emma Lou Dolezal, Mason and Tucker Maus, Ava Getz, and Logan and Tyler Potter; her two brothers: Jake (and Shirley) Refsland of Montevideo, and Cecil and (Evie) Refsland of Rochester; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Wilbur (and Betty) Standfuss of Renville, and Marjorie Lenz of Willmar; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Christi and Celia Refsland, her husband Duane, her brothers: Russell and Harvey Refsland; an infant brother, her sister Adella Cob, her step sister Vangie Grabow, her son-in-law Arnold Potter, her grandson-in-law Shannen Maus and granddaughter-in-law Erin Walker.
