Waldemar George Huls was born August 23, 1937 at Worthington, MN, to George and Mathilda (Wiechman) Huls. When Wally was young the family moved to the Hector area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His schooling started in country schools and then attended Hector High School. On December 15, 1956 Wally married Ruby Lambertson at the Hector Methodist Church and they were blessed with three sons Keith, Kim, and Kevin. In 1957 they moved to Buffalo Lake and he worked for Ervin Rath farming for five years. In 1962 the family moved into town and he was employed by Scharmer Construction and Hardware Store. Wally owned and operated the city garbage route for many years and also drove milk truck for Kottke Brothers. In later years he was part owner of Buffalo Lake Construction. Wally was a volunteer fireman for 28 years for the City of Buffalo Lake. He had the privilege of serving with his three sons, one grandson, and two nephews on the department. He had enjoyed sports, wildlife, hunting, fishing, and especially little outlaw racing. Wally was an animal lover of all kinds and gave them a good home with everything they needed. In summertime you could often find him in his garden taking care of the tomatoes and onions. Wally was a quiet person who truly enjoyed his family and friends and looked forward to going to the Straw Hat Cafe to have coffee with Phyllis and Elzie. Wally entered the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center on June 17, 2013. He was grateful for the many blessings in his life and will be dearly missed.
