Tammy Lafky, age 55, of Bird Island died Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Memorial services will be Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with Rev. Matt Hausken officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bird Island. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
Tammy Jean Lafky was born January 22, 1963 at Winona, Minnesota to Alvin and Alta (Bellock) Lafky. She grew up in Lewiston, MN and went to school in Lewiston. Tammy met Dale Beckler when she was in her twenty’s, and then moved to Bird Island, and they had their only daughter Cassandra. Tammy had worked at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop for 25 years retiring due to cancer. She spent her remaining years with Mark Abrahamson. Tammy enjoyed watching nature shows on TV and visiting the Como Zoo yearly. Tammy liked cooking and grilling for her family and playing board games. She had been in remission for 15 years until recently when she passed away at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud at age 55.
Tammy is survived by her daughter Cassandra (and Jeff) Lund of St. Cloud; her four siblings: Betty (and Doug) Woxland of Waupun, WI, Tom (and Trudy) Lafky of St. Charles, Dennis (and Kathy) Lafky of Lewiston, and Kenny Lafky (and special friend Mary) of Winona; her significant other Mark Abrahamson of Bird Island; and many nieces and nephews. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents.
