Lyndean Rose (Wacek) Phinney, age 60, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 7, 2018 at her home in Nashville, TN after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, November 16th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial will be in the family plot in the church cemetery. Visitation is Friday at the church for one hour prior to the mass. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.
Lyndean was born July 7, 1958 in Olivia, MN, to Edward and Gertrude “Ruth” Wacek. Lyndean loved to be at the beach with her toes in sand, feeling the warm rays of the sun and the ocean breeze. She called it her happy place. She also cared deeply about her family and friends and enjoyed hosting gatherings. She was an amazing cook and no one ever left one of her events hungry.
Survivors include her husband Gary, sons Nicholas Getter and wife Tanja Getter (grandchild Alexandra) and Benjamin Getter; step-daughters Candice Hernandez and husband Ben Hernandez (grandchildren Katlyn, Roy, Trinity and Madison) and Kellee Melendez (grandchild Brandon); her seven siblings: Joan (and Dominic) Chirico of Fort Mills, SC, Sandra Wacek of Fremont, CA, Gloria (and Joseph) Serbus of Milaca, Lane (and Marcy) Wacek of Olivia, Kay Dickey of St. Louis, MO, Doug Wacek of Burlington, VT, and Kevin (and Patricia) Wacek of Coon Rapids; and her many nieces and nephews. Lyndean was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Brian Wacek, Dennis Wacek and Gary Wacek; and her sister-in-law Becky Wacek.
