Donovan “Don” Lippert, age 94, of Olivia died Friday, November 30, 2018 at Prairie View Assisted Living in Hector. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday at the church from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Memorials are preferred to Renville County Hospice and St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Donovan Louis Lippert was born October 18, 1924 in Roseland Township, Kandiyohi County, MN, to Louis and Lillian (Tatting) Lippert. He attended District #64 school in Blomkest and St. Aloysius School in Olivia. Don married Valora Dingels on May 26, 1953 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia and they were blessed with four children. Don farmed north of Olivia in Kandiyohi County, first with his two brothers until 1980, and then continued to farm with his son until 2002. Being a lifelong farmer he looked forward to harvest every year and was proud to see his son and grandson carry on the tradition. In 1982 Don and Valora moved into Olivia. Don was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He had enjoyed playing pool, dancing, traveling, and watching boxing and current events on TV. Don was an avid reader and was always willing to learn new things. He will be remembered for his wit, great sense of humor, and putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Don is survived by his children: Sandy (and Michael) Gabbert of Columbia, SC, Craig Lippert of Camarillo, CA, Jeff (and Kris) Lippert of Spicer, and Sharon (and Kirk) Brumbaugh of Crystal Lake, IL; his twelve grandchildren: Carrie, Kevin, and Jennifer Gabbert, Jared (and Brit) Lippert, Steven (and Meggan) Lippert, Rachel Lippert (and fiancé Matt Rodesky), Lindsay (and Justin) Smith, Melissa (and Jim) Erickson, Jay (and Heidi) Lippert, Gary, Lisa, and Kelly Brumbaugh; his eight great-grandchildren: Alannah, Isabelle, and Jackson Lippert, Nolan and Oliver Smith, Kipton and Jada Erickson, and Gianna Rodesky; his two brothers: Roger Lippert and Tom Lippert; and his sister Pat Thein. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Valora in 2016; his two brothers: Bob Lippert and Dick Lippert; and his two sisters: Dorothy Dobmeier and Alice Millerbernd.
