Gary Klatt, age 69, of Willmar and formerly Lake Lillian died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar. A graveside service and time of gathering for friends and family will be in the Spring. K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian is in charge of arrangements.
Gary Allen Klatt was born December 7, 1949 at Willmar, MN, to Leslie and Deloris (Miller) Klatt. The family lived in Cosmos where he started his schooling and when they moved north of Lake Lillian he attended District #777 country school in Lake Elizabeth Township. He also attended school in Lake Lillian when they lived there, as well as Bird Island Public School, and he graduated from Atwater High School. Gary then worked for Hanson Silo until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He had served in Germany during the Viet Nam era and attained the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge he returned to working at Hanson Silo. Later Gary attended truck driving school. For many years he was an over the road trucker, often from coast-to-coast, and had his chemical endorsement for hauling those materials. Gary enjoyed time spent with his family especially his nephews whom he dearly loved.
Gary is survived by his mother, Deloris Klatt of Willmar; his sisters: Karen Lieberg of Cosmos and Beverly Larson of Willmar; special friend Mary Hamstad of Willmar; his nephews: Andrew Lieberg of Lima, OH, John Lieberg of St. Cloud, Kevin Larson of Willmar and Donald Larson of Willmar; his five great-nephews, one great-niece and two great-great-nieces. Gary was preceded in death by his father.
