Elaine Dobmeier, age 93, of Alexandria and formerly of Olivia, died June 26, 2019 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Alexandria. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. George Schmit as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is Monday, July 1st from 5-7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation continues Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers Elaine’s family would request memorials to: Douglas County Hospice, 725 Elm St. #1200, Alexandria, MN 56308; Renville County Hospice, Olivia, MN; Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer’s Association, 7900 W. 78th St. Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55439; or a memorial of your choice.
Elaine Ann Dobmeier was born September 28, 1925 in Troy Township, Renville County, MN to Lambert H. and Bertha E. (Bruels) Dingels. Elaine attended and graduated from St. Aloysius Grade School in June, 1939. She then attended and graduated from Olivia High School on May 28, 1943. After high school Elaine worked for Dr. Cosgriff at the Olivia Clinic. On June 10, 1947 Elaine married Ernest L. Dobmeier at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. For many years Elaine was a homemaker raising their five children. Later Elaine worked at the ASCS office in Olivia and then was employed at Wagemaker Law Firm until her retirement. Elaine was a longtime member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the CCW. Elaine enjoyed many different hobbies including: gardening, canning, baking, music, dancing, traveling, and spending winters in Arizona. She loved following her favorite sports teams and also enjoyed visiting with friends over a cup of coffee. Ernie died in 2006 and in later years she moved to Parkview Assisted Living in Olivia. Elaine has made her home these past three years at Edgewood Vista in Alexandria to be near her family. Elaine will fondly be remembered for her faithful life, dedication to saying the rosary, always thinking of others, and considering everyone as family.
Elaine is survived by her five children: Cheryl (Denny) Crosby of Hastings, Ron (Bonnie) Dobmeier of Alexandria, Gary (Karen) Dobmeier of Alexandria, Doug (Sarah) Dobmeier of Alexandria, and Kathy (Dave) Morrissey of Plymouth; nine grandchildren: Chad (Tammy) Crosby, Craig (Amy) Crosby, Chris (Crystal) Dobmeier, Carrie Dobmeier (and Rev. David Lindsey), Andrea (Eric) Nyberg, Adam (Abby) Dobmeier, Amanda (Chris) Rudy, Daniel Morrissey, and Nicole Morrissey; 15 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Luke, and Adam Crosby, Mikaela and Lily Crosby, Marrisa Dobmeier, Weston, Audyn, and Briggs Nyberg, Nolan, Fisher, and Graham Rudy, Delaney, Sutton, and Payton Dobmeier; her brother-in-law Donald “Bud” Dobmeier of Olivia, and her sister-in-law Sally Steil of Estherville, IA. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernie; sisters Rita Hopman, Leone O’Halloran, Marge Dirksen, Valora Lippert, LaVonne Heinen; and her brother Ken Dingels.
