Rosalie Sheggeby, age 103, of Olivia, died Friday, September 6, 2019 at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Funeral Service is Thursday, September 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Pastor Matt Hausken officiating. Burial is in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Sacred Heart. Visitation is Thursday from 11:30-1:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Rosalie Sheggeby was born December 17, 1915, at Huron, South Dakota to Matthias and Olga (Stormer) Gabel. Her childhood was spent in South Dakota before moving to Minnesota, where she graduated from Sacred Heart Public High School. On June 6, 1934, she married H. Gordon Sheggeby. They had two children, Daniel and Rosalind. Rosalie taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school, and confirmation at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart and Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia, and gave piano lessons for several years. She also did volunteer work for the Red Cross, especially the Bloodmobile.
Rosalie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Sheggeby of Eagan, MN; granddaughter, Dawn Sheggeby, and her husband James Enright of NY; grandson, Michael Sheggeby, his wife Rosemarie, and great-grandsons, Emerson and Noah, all of Rochester, MN; brothers, Stanley and Byron Gabel; sister, Mary Ann Albright; and her friend, Nancy Hague of Olivia.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband, H. Gordon Sheggeby; son, Daniel Sheggeby; daughter, Rosalind Sheggeby; sister, Margaret Bratsch of Olivia; and four brothers.
