Mary Ann Hayek, age 88, of West St. Paul, MN and formerly of Danube, MN died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Southview Acres in West St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation for Mary Ann is at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia, MN.
Mary Ann Hayek was born December 5, 1930 in Danube, MN to Joseph and Mary (Wallenta) Hayek. She grew up on the family farm south of Danube and attended Danube schools. When she was in her teens she moved to Bird Island to assist her grandmother so then attended and graduated from Bird Island High School. Mary Ann moved to Minneapolis to attend college after which she worked at attorney offices first there and then in Bird Island. Mary Ann was interested in moving out west so lived in California for several years and later moved back to Danube. Most recently she has resided at Southview Acres in West St. Paul. Mary Ann had enjoyed sewing, making clothes, watching TV, and game shows. She especially enjoyed visits from her family and relatives.
Mary Ann is survived by her two sisters Dorothy (and Jim) Brazil of Morton and Agnes Goblirsch of Rochester; sister-in-law Darlene Hayek of Danube; five nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Joseph Hayek; brother-in-law Gene Goblirsch; and one nephew.
