Viola “Vi” Eleanor Flann was born September 3, 1925, to Elmer and Edna (Bauman) Hebrink at their home in Holland Township, Prinsburg, Minnesota. Vi attended country school District 103 South of Prinsburg. She married Howard Flann on May 17, 1949, (Syttende Mai) at the Raymond Methodist Church. They resided on Howard’s grandparent’s farm in Lake Lillian – now a Century Farm. They raised cattle, pigs, turkeys, and crops. Viola was a housewife and raised 4 children. She attended many baseball and softball games while following her sports minded husband and kids.  She also worked part time for the Lake Lillian Crier and the Lake Lillian Library for 13 years. In her later years, she loved watching her grandkids play and grow.

Viola was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian which later became United Lutheran. She enjoyed reading, studying the bible, and discussions with her bible study circle. She served as Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and Ladies Aid President/Secretary/Historian. She sewed and used her talent by being part of the quilting group which made many quilts that were given to those in need as well as making personal quilts for her family members.

She loved to tend her vegetable and flower gardens and would spend many hours outside. She had numerous bird feeders and bird houses strategically placed for bird watching. She appreciated all the deer and other critters that roamed her lawn. She also loved taking road trips and camping in National Parks all over the United States. She showed her compassion for others by remembering all of her extended family with special cards on birthdays and holidays. She will be remembered by her family as a soft spoken, gentle, and kind hearted woman whose love ran deeper than her words.

Viola is survived by her children Steve Flann of Lake Lillian, Bryan (and Becky) Flann of Lake Lillian, and Kristi Flann of Chanhassen; her grandchildren Jared (and Tami) Flann of Lake Lillian and Derek (and Erin) Flann of Bird Island; her great grandchildren Morgan, Blake, Owen, Emmitt, Kaitlyn, and Ema. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her husband, Howard, and her son, Rick.
