Thomas Miles Honzay was born October 19, 1952 in Olivia, Minnesota to George and Cecelia (Lingl) Honzay.  He grew up in Olivia and later in the 1960’s his family moved to a farm south of Bird Island.  Tom graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1970.  He then attended Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech to study small engine repair. Tom married Sharon Scotting on July 5, 1980 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island and they were blessed with two children. Tom farmed with his brother Chuck for many years retiring in 2018. Tom had also worked fixing small engines in Redwood Falls and later at the farm with his business Honzay’s Small Engine Repair. Tom was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and often volunteered at the cemetery and washing pots and pans after funeral luncheons. He also volunteered at the Renville County Food Shelf and enjoyed recruiting others to assist there. His care and concern for others was evident in his gifting “pain pens” to many with various medical needs. Tom had enjoyed fishing, playing volleyball, gardening, and sharing his harvest with others. He especially loved playing with his four grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife Sharon Honzay of Bird Island; his two children: Jennifer (and Brandon) Abrahamson of Brooklyn Park and Matthew (and Amara) Honzay of Rogers; his four grandchildren: Avangeline, Delaney, and Maddox Abrahamson and Ivan Honzay; his four siblings: Chuck (and Chris) Honzay of Bird Island, George (and Robin) Honzay of Park Rapids, Pat Honzay (and Larry Christiansen) of Arizona and Judy (and Mike) Jacobs of Olivia; and many nieces and nephews.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents George and Cecelia Honzay.
