Marilyn Betty Vosika was born on March 21, 1939, in Sacred Heart, MN to Millard and Frances (McBroom) Jacobson. Marilyn was baptized and later confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She spent most of her younger years living in Sacred Heart, graduating from high school in 1957. After graduation, she worked as a nurse at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. On November 21, 1959, Marilyn was united in marriage to Harvey Vosika and they were blessed with six children. They made their home in Olivia, later moving to the family farm north of Olivia. Together, Marilyn and Harvey, enjoyed camping, fishing, and ballroom dancing. Marilyn worked for many years as a secretary for Vosika Portable Toilet Rental and Sewer Services. She was a very dedicated homemaker who always made sure her company was welcomed. From a young age, Marilyn was introduced to music by her father who was part of an orchestra. This introduction to music led to her many musical talents of singing and playing piano, organ, accordion, spoons, and harmonica. Marilyn had a passion for gardening; she raised and sold many potatoes with Harvey when they still lived on the farm. After she moved back to town from the farm, she enjoyed her retirement. Listening on the radio and supporting her grandchildren throughout their high school sports careers gave her much joy. She had an immeasurable love for her family and spending time with all of them. Marilyn will be remembered for her selfless personality, positive outlook, and witty comebacks.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Tammy (Glen) Struchen of Hurst, TX, Brian (Sue) Vosika of Renville, Betty (Mike) Ochs of Olivia, and Kevin Vosika of Olivia; her grandchildren: Jenifer Manthei, Jessica Oliver, Angela Eischens, Shelby Gass, Jeremy Burmeister, Steve Eischens, Shawna Ochs, Kimberly Aten, Tiffany Hinker, Brandon Ochs, Kayla Ochs, Dawson Vosika, Gavin Vosika, and Hudson Vosika; her step-grandsons: Eric Ojanen, Kent Ojanen, and Grant Ojanen; and her 13 great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey Vosika; and two daughters, Deborah Eischens and Kathleen Vosika.
