Larry Lee Roos was born June 16, 1940, in Sheldon, Iowa to his adoptive parents Dick Jr. and Edna Roos. He grew up in northwestern Iowa and moved to a farm outside of Renville in 1951. He graduated from Renville High School in 1958, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He married Jeanette Eileen Millerbernd on November 5, 1966, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville. Larry was employed by Hoberg Brothers in Sacred Heart for several years before spending the next two decades with Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative. He also served on the Renville volunteer fire department in the 1970s and early 80s. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, bird watching, and camping. He was also known for cooking and his mastery of the barbecue grill; some of his most memorable dishes were his spicy baked beans, campfire baked potatoes, sweet and sour pork, barbecue sauce, and any cut of meat you can imagine. Jeanette and Larry especially enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and daily wildlife drives along the river bottom.
Larry is survived by his two children: Karen (and Mark) Kraus of Chicago, IL, and Michael (and Deb) Roos of Renville; his six grandchildren: Luke Robinson of North Conway, NH, Michael Robinson of Chicago, IL, Thomas Robinson of Buffalo, MN, MacKenzie Knapper of Chicago, IL, Branden Jahnke of St. Cloud, and Devin Roos of Port Orchard, WA; his four siblings-in-law: Steve Millerbernd, Jim (and Bonnie) Millerbernd, Chris (and Todd) Carlson, and Barb (and Paul) Beck; and his many nieces and nephews. Larry is now reunited with his parents and wife of 50 years, Jeanette.
Blessed Be His Memory
