Laura Walberg, age 101, of Redwood Falls and formerly of Olivia died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls. Funeral Services will be Sunday, October 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Olivia Cemetery with Rev. Matt Hausken officiating. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.
Laura Frieda Walberg was born May 28, 1919 to David and Lillian (Kermeke) Weseloh in Preston Lake Township in Renville County. Laura grew up on a farm north of Buffalo Lake and attended country school through 8th grade. On April 19, 1941 Laura was united in marriage to Earl Walberg. While Earl was in the service they lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. When they moved back to Minnesota they lived in Hector before settling in Olivia. For the last 15 years, she had been residing in Redwood Falls. Laura enjoyed quilting at church, gardening, camping, and playing cards. She was a proud housewife that loved entertaining and hosting for family events. Cats and dogs had a special place in her heart. Laura had an immeasurable love for her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Laura is survived by her children: Melvin (Kathi) Walberg of Monticello, Doyle (Janice) Walberg of Redwood Falls, her daughter-in-law Sandra Walberg of Echo; her grandchildren: Kristeen (Michael) Groth, Jennifer (Douglas) Johnson, Melissa (David) Godwin, Troy (Deb) Walberg, Trevor (Dawn) Walberg, Michelle (Mitch) Heiling, Tracy Walberg, Teri (Mike) Smith, Anthony (Sarah) Walberg; 16 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great grandchildren. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; son, Russell Walberg; and five siblings.
