Donna Jansen, age 75, of Olivia died Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Olivia Healthcare Center. Due to Covid restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to Renville County Hospice. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Donna Mae Jansen was born November 9, 1945 at New Ulm, MN, to Elmer and Viola (Grams) Schroeder. She grew up on the farm at Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1963. Donna married Richard Jansen on May 21, 1966 at St. Aloysius Parish House. They made their home south of Olivia and were blessed with five children. Donna was a homemaker and farmwife and also worked for five years at the flower shop in Bird Island, where she could use her creative talents. Dick and Donna moved into Olivia in 2004. She had enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and making blankets for the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, and spending time at the lake with her family. She was an excellent cook, cooking from scratch, and made the best potato salad and baked beans….and nobody left her house on an empty stomach. Donna will be remembered for her love for children and animals, and most certainly her beautiful smile. Donna has battled Alzheimer’s for the past twelve years. She has resided at the Olivia Healthcare Center these past three years where Dick would visit her at least once every day.
Donna is survived by her husband Richard “Dick” Jansen; daughter Kristine (Greg) Beuning and their family Siera (Mitchell) Gagne and Paige Beuning; daughter Deb (John) Schafer, Amanda Schafer, Allison (Seth) Pollock and Jase Pollock, and Emily Schafer; daughter Julie (Jeff) Lambrecht, Ana Sturdevant, Hayden Sturdevant, Jesse Lambrecht, Tanner Lambrecht, and Aiken Lambrecht; son Steven (Kimie) Jansen, Brayden Jansen and Kyler Jansen; son Danny (Jacey) Jansen, Tegan Jansen, Keeley Jansen, and Brekin Jansen. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Shirley Becker.
