Sandra Eilene Laffen was born on December 23, 1937 to Donald and Margaret (Warday) Hammer in Minneapolis, MN. Sandee was married to Leonard Kester in April of 1964 and together they had four children. She moved from the cities to Bird Island. Sandee was united in marriage to Keith Laffen on December 8, 1973 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. All throughout her life Sandee loved anything with a motor. In her younger years she raced stock cars and won multiple times, drove taxi and shuttle bus. She had a moped but when it wasn’t fast enough for her, she upgraded to a motorcycle. Sandee had her CDL and drove bus for over 40 years. She liked sewing; she made many stuffed animals and matching outfits for her children to wear every holiday. Sandee enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She was known as “Techno Grannie” by her grandchildren as she had to have the latest and best electronics. Sandee had a passion for all kinds of music; from hymns to ACDC she had many favorites. Traveling brought her much joy. Whether it was actually being on the trip or living through the videos that her daughter sent her while trucking across the U.S., she was eager to tell her friends about it. Sandee will be remembered for her immeasurable love for sweets, the Green Bay Packers, and her family and friends.

Sandee is survived by her husband, Keith; her children: Loni (Leland) Williamson of Goodland, MN, Leonard Kester of Roseland, MN, Leandra (Tom) Huisman of Stacy, MN; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Gayle (John) Thran of Grand Rapids, MN; and her beloved dog, Bussie Ann. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret; step-dad, Arther Jenner; son, Kristopher Kester; brother, Donald Hammer; great-grandson, Alexandru Wally Trofin; and her dog, Tinker Ann.
