Beverly Jean Beckman was born January 1, 1953 in Olivia, MN, to Donald and Clara (Harding) Flann. She grew up in rural Lake Lillian and graduated from Willmar High School in 1971. She attended St. Cloud School of Nursing and graduated as an RN. Bev started her long nursing employment at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, after that at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, and then for many years at Rice Hospital and Surgery Center in Willmar, retiring in 2018. Bev married Jerry Beckman on June 14, 1975 and they were blessed with four children Amanda, Laura, Andrew and Jake. They resided in Olivia until moving to Willmar in 1998. Bev was a natural teacher. She homeschooled her children for many years as well as encouraging them in their piano and violin lessons. She was a faithful member at Willmar Assembly of God and lived her life for Jesus. Bev enjoyed her quilting circle in the Willmar area for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, spending time with the grandchildren at the lake, “directing” Jerry in the landscaping and gardening beautification projects, and a good cup of coffee with friends and family. Bev will be remembered for her clinical acumen in the ICU arena and mentoring of new nurses. She will also be remembered for her compassion and kindness to others, generosity and strength, and wonderful sense of humor.
Bev is survived by her husband Jerry of Willmar; her children: Amanda (Nathan) Kumagai of Encinitas, CA, Laura (Matt) Boche of Zimmerman, Andrew (Robyn) Beckman of Apple Valley, and Jake Beckman of San Diego, CA; her nine grandchildren: Alanna, Jude and Aubrey Kumagai, Eleanor, Bennett, and Celia Boche, Ethan, Evan and Avery Beckman; her siblings: Judy (Larry) Posl of Bird Island, Ron (Renae) Flann of Bird Island, and Dean (Isabel) Flann of Texas.
