Bruce Mages, age 65, of Olivia, MN died on Monday, October 11, 2021 at his home. A private family service will be held at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia. A public Celebration of Life will be Friday, October 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Olivia Legion. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Bruce David Mages was born on October 1, 1956 to Albin and Adella (Kodet) Mages in Olivia, MN. He graduated from Olivia High School in 1975. Bruce was united in marriage to Nancy Lietzau on March 11, 1978 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Together they made their home on a farm site north of Olivia and were blessed with three children. Bruce worked as a farmer and for the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop. He enjoyed grilling and gardening. Canning pickles and tomato products was also a hobby of his. Bruce helped out at Steffel Processing where he would help process meat and develop his own special breakfast and summer sausage recipes. His grandchildren filled his life with much joy; they made countless memories together. Bruce will be remembered for his great sense of humor, warm heart, and being a great friend to all.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children: Jesse (and Nicole) Mages and their children: Allison and Kara of Willmar, MN, Amanda (and David) Zupke and their children: Madison, Laura, and Jack of Willmar, MN, and Joshua (and Katie) Mages and their children: Maverick and Macklynn of Watertown, SD; his mother, Adella Mages; his siblings: Gary (and Sharon) Mages of Willmar, MN, Ronald (and Diane) Mages of Paynesville, MN, Lowell (and SueAnn) Mages of Olivia, MN, Julie (and Rodney) Johnson of Eden Valley, MN, Carol (and Stanley) Feldman of Olivia, MN, Roxanne (and Eugene) Voss of Adrian, MN, Mark (and Carrie) Mages of Olivia, MN, and Susan Holt (and significant other Jason Niccum) of Litchfield, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Albin and grandson, Parker Zupke.
