Obituary of Jerry Senkyr

Jerome “Jerry” Thomas Senkyr passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022 after losing his battle with cancer. A graveside service will be on Wednesday, May 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Olivia, MN with Father Joe Steinbeisser officiating.

 

Jerry was born April 9, 1955 to Glen and Mary Lou (Gewerth) Senkyr in Renville County. He attended Olivia Public School and graduated in 1973. While growing up, he went to St. Mary’s Church in Bechyn where he was an active altar boy. After graduation, he joined the Minnesota National Guard in Olivia.

 

Jerry married Terry Casey in 1981 and they had a son, Jerome Thomas Jr. in 1982, and later divorced. They resided in White Settlement, a suburb of Fort Worth, TX. Jerry worked construction for many years until he finally retired. Jerry remarried in 1991, to Marilyn Jo Fowler, whom unfortunately passed away in 2014. Jerry gained a stepson out of his union, Garren King.

 

Jerry enjoyed many things in life. He had a good spirit for family, fishing, hunting, and love.

 

Jerry is survived by his son, Jerome Thomas Jr. and step-son, Garren King, both of Fort Worth, TX; his brothers and sisters: John and Carol (Beckler) Senkyr of Bird Island, Pat and Mary (Senkyr) Brown of Minot, ND, Bob and Joyce (Senkyr) Bender of Spicer, Ray and Karen (Senkyr) Evenson of Willmar, Mark and Rita (Sauer) Senkyr of Marshall, and Jane Senkyr and Bill Hoffman of Howard Lake; his six grandchildren: Aidan, Liam, Ethan, Caitlynn, Zoya, and Asher; along with many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Jo; his father and mother; and his grandparents.
